Do I really need a will if I don’t have many assets?
Yes. A will ensures your wishes are followed, and ensures certainty, no matter the size of your estate.
What happens if I die without a will?
Your estate will be distributed according to South African intestate succession laws, which may not reflect your personal wishes.
How often should I update my estate plan?
It’s a good idea to review your estate plan and Will annually or after major life changes – like marriage, divorce, having children, or acquiring new assets.
What taxes apply to my estate when I pass away?
Estate duty, capital gains tax, and income tax may apply.
